Essex pickup...
Shed
find!
On Feb 17th, 2008 I got to see it
again for
the first
time in almost 22 years.
This is in the storage unit where it had been
hidden
away; a proverbial "shed find".
The car cover has seen better days,
but it kept alot of dust and dirt off the truck.
Like a mechanical Rip Van Winkel, it
emerges from
a 20-year
nap.
Outside for the first time in almost
20 years. The layer of dust on the car is a good indication of how long
it's been sitting.
Clear skies but very windy and
miserably cold. We picked it up in Dauphin and hauled it about 150 kms back to our home in Neepawa. There were a
few periods
of complete white-out
conditions from snow blowing across the highway. These pics were during
one of the calmer sections.
White-knuckle driving
while hauling your new toy home is always good for your blood pressure,
right?
The Essex arrives at its new home in
Neepawa.
It was last registered in 1988.
We've finally got it parked in our
little garage.
The front bumper came with it and just needs to be re-installed.
A Dodge "leaning tower of power"
225ci slant-6 engine is backed by an automatic tranny.
70's era black vinyl
interior, seats are early Pinto.
